Sunday Mood Box: Unboxing October Magic!

November 6, 2016

After the first ever Sunday Mood Box last September, I was beyond excited to recieve the October subscription in the mail. I am so impressed with how well curated this subscription has been right from the start but I expected no less from the lovely Hayley who I have kept in touch with after meeting via the blog world much earlier this year. This girl has become a member of my tribe and after being blown away by her organic and vegan skin care line, The Coal Miner’s Daughter, I am now in awe of her subscription service for vegan indie beauty lovers. She has found the perfect balance of accessories, beauty products and gorgeous teas. So, let’s get down to business and I can show off the October Magick Box:

Lotus Wei Flower Elixirs: What is Plant Alchemy?

November 1, 2016

I spent years working in the field of mental health care before becoming a Mother, which lead to me make the decision to stay home with my baby while she grows. While I worked, I spent a lot of time reading and applying all of the alternative modalities of therapy I could find. I have always gravitated towards therapies rooted in nature, mindfulness, and self awareness. I believe I steered towards these therapies because, I myself, benefited from therapies of this kind in conjunction with holistic healing while overcoming an eating disorder years ago. I still firmly believe in finding ways to de-stress and de-clutter my life. I have turned to mindfulness, meditation, yoga, naturopathy, reiki, and chakra therapy. Every single one of these practices incorporates an element of self care, which is something I am an advocate for.

A Green Beauty Must-Have: Back to Basics Skincare and their Rosehip Radiance Oil

October 5, 2016

Having had skin issues in the past I am now incredibly careful with my skin care routine. I want to age gracefully but, of course, I also want to avoid those pesky early signs of aging if I can. The products I use on my face are something I pay quite a bit of attention to. I have had acne prone skin in the past and if I were ever to switch my regimen drastically I’m certain they would come roaring back. I also have very sensitive skin.. it goes red from weather, touch, poorly made products, and the sun. If you asked me years ago, I never would have thought the answer to my skin care woes would have been an oil based regimen. I would have looked at you like you were crazy and went on with the terrible and backwards cycle of drying out my skin to tame it’s wild nature. The idea of drying out the skin to reverse acne is one I now shake my head at. How could we have ever thought that stripping our skin of it’s nutrients, and of oil (which is something our skin produces naturally for a REASON) would have been the answer? In reality, our skin overproduces oils and sebum when it feels like we don’t have enough to preserve and protect ourselves from the elements. My skin mantra is to ADD nutrients to your skin when its acting out, do not strip it of nutrients and leave it to compensate. Skin requires balance.

A Game changing Mineral Foundation for flawless skin from All Natural Collection

September 23, 2016

Once upon a time I was addicted to Bare Minerals, a mineral powder foundation line that gave the most beautiful coverage and matched my skin perfectly. Imagine my upset when I started breaking out like crazy only to find out that they certainly aren’t as natural as I had thought. No, just because the company uses the word “minerals” does not make it the safest make up for your skin. Bare Minerals in particular had the ingredient, Bismuth Oxychloride, the main culprit in the bumps and blemishes forming all over my face after a few months of using this product.

Sunday Mood Box: A Subscription Box of Indie Beauty Dreams

September 20, 2016

I remember when I was younger I could go to the local mall and pick up a “surprise bag” from the store. It was so much fun opening the bag up and checking out all the little gifts you just received for a couple of dollars. Then, in my adulthood, I was brought back to my love of surprise bags with a new concept… subscription boxes began some years ago and it brought along serious nostalgia with it. The idea of receiving “fun” mail instead of more bills was amazing alone.. not to mention it would be a box of goodies that you just paid a small fraction of the price for compared to purchasing each item separately from each shop. There are subscription boxes for so many different genres these days but this one is one of my all time favourites.

Natural Bath & Body products that are sweeter than the Body Shop!

July 26, 2016

I have always been a water person.. and I know many others are just the same. I am always drawn to water when ailments hit, I am tired, sore, or just for pure self care. I even opted for a water birth to bring my baby into the world and just being in my own space under water brought a sense of safety in a very vulnerable moment. So naturally, as an Aquarian, I love my baths. I could soak in a bath everyday if I had the time!

How To: An at home organic facial for glowing & healthy skin (vol. 2)

July 7, 2016

This is my second post in the new series on how I use different green beauty skin products to create at home facial treatments that stand up to the spas! I have always loved going to get a facial. However, now I just don’t have the time or the money. Thankfully, it is a lot cheaper and economical to purchase high quality skin care products to have a facial (many spa days) at home. These spa treatments usually come with a few steps so I have put together this mini article to show you what products I used this time to pamper myself and boost my skin. I also added links to the product websites for you to link to if you see something you like (just pure skin love shared for you!).

The Clean Living Collection: Organic Non-GMO at Home Facials and Natural tooth whitening!

June 13, 2016

This is one company I’ve been really excited to share with you all. Not only are the products top notch, straight from mother earth, and do unbelievable things for my body… but the owner, Ariel, is so lovely! In my short time chatting with her over the past few months I have come to appreciate her kind natured self! After using her products for the last few weeks, I can certainly tell that she puts her heart and soul into these recipes. She is very transparent in terms of what she puts into her products which is something I have always looked for in the companies I purchase from. Not only that, but she releases the sources from which her ingredients come from.. also noting that any non-vegan ingredients such as beeswax still come from a conscious bee keeper. Trust me, as someone who has tried a seriously long list of green beauty products, those companies who use ingredients that are sourced properly and for their quality stand out by far!
