2017 Green Beauty Holiday Gift Guide

This year I’ve put together a number of holiday gift guides to help others make their lists or shop for their loved ones. Anyone who follows my blog knows that I am a Green Beauty advocate and its really the theme that kick started this entire blog to where it was. Its where I hold a great deal of knowledge, from researching my butt off for years to testing product after product. I only share the ones I truly love on this blog and so what better opportunity to point you in the right direction than the holidays? Here’s a list of my Green Beauty MUST HAVES that you can shop directly from this post. The Hair

First up, UMA’s Hair Treatment Oil. This is the oil I’ve used for a long time now and replaced my beloved (not really anymore, we broke up) Moroccan Oil for. It’s really a green beauty holy grail as it smells divine, works so well to protect, smooth, and style hair, AND it contains the natural form of the active ingredient in Rogaine (a well known conventional hair growth product) so you can expect hair natural growth promotion from this product.

The Skin

If I had to choose my favourite area of green beauty, it would have to be skin care. I LOVE a good skin care routine, because what else besides your skin do you need to invest so much love into? Your skin will rebel if you don’t take proper care of it when you have the chance, so goodbye toxic ingredients (that wreak havoc on your skin and destroy it over time) and hello to green beauty must haves like the ones I’ve listed below. These are my all time, can’t live without, bring to the deserted island with me forever brands.. They are worth checking out and investing in!

 

Lets start off with Maya Chia, shall we? If you follow me, you know I rant and rave over Maya Chia ALL. THE. TIME. Read my full review on some of the products HERE. This brand has nailed down the perfect blends of high potency skin care ingredients and formulated some of the highest quality products around. Their signature? Supercritical Chia seed oil which will LOVE your skin better than anything else could. They’ve trademarked a unique way of pressing the chia oils so they stay in their truest most potent form.. your skin will drink this up, push out its’ lines, smooth out its surface and give you the most beautiful glow on the block. Then theres Herbivore.. This brand got me right from the start when I saw their beautifully detailed packaging. Then I tried their line and fell even harder. They use some of the most potent botanicals and all of the colours of their products are 100% natural! The blue products are my go to as they contain ingredients like blue tansy which help reduce redness and inflammation of the skin (perfect for anyone who has redness prone skin like yours truly).. Heres one of their best selling products, the Lapis Facial Oil.

Next, I wanted to share one of my green beauty holy grails with you, May Lindstrom. This brand one that I just have to put down as one of my very favourites. The quality and luxurious quality of every single product she crafts is amazing and has left my skin better than ever before. This brand is the most worthwhile investment in your skin and I highly recommend the best selling “Blue Cocoon” face balm. The colour and scent of the balm is enough to make anyone want to swim in this jar, but the effects it has on the skin are something out of a fairytale. The concentrated balm will deliver the most hydrated plump and supple skin after its first use. The ingredients will calm the most sensitive of skin, and does wonders on my redness prone cheeks. May’s brand is certainly an investment as it may come with a higher price tag but one that I wholeheartedly recommend if you’re looking to live in your best skin. This jar of balm will last quite a while as you only require a small pea sized amount each day to reap the benefits of this beauty gold. What better time to indulge in higher priced beauty than as a gift for the Holidays.

Anyone who loves the skin care game knows that masking is an essential part of creating that glowing skin. I have had my fair share of mask trials and I’ve compiled a list of some of my favourites for you to check out this holiday season. I have them at all different price points and types. First up, 100% Pure’s Green Tea water bomb masks are intensely hydrating and soothing, while hyaluronic acid works to smooth and perfect your skins texture. Your skin will look and feel absolutely amazing after you’re done trying this once. I have linked the single mask and the 5-pack if anyone wishes to bundle to save. This is by far one of my favourite hydrogel masks and while they are listed as “single use”, I save the trays, fill them with filtered water, lie the mask back in it and use the mask again another day.

100% Pure aso makes the Caffeine face mask which is another one of my favourites from their line. They actually have 3 different hydrogel masks like these but I find the Green Tea and Caffeine versions to be the most effective. The Caffeine masks restores sun damaged skin, is anti-inflammatory and helps reduce redness. Caffeine is also well known to fight lines and plump up the skin so its a great choice for anyone looking to fight time.

Next up on my list of must have masks is the holy grail of all green beauty masking, May Lindstrom’s “The Honey Mud”. This mask is one that all green beauty bloggers have raved over and for good reason, May Lindstrom has easily made her brand into one of the most luxurious and effective skin care regimes. This mask is definitely a best seller from the line and so I had to share it! This mask delivers intense hydration, soft skin resurfacing, which leaves you with soft, supple, plump, and glowing skin. There is nothing like the experience of delving into a mask like this one. I highly recommend this mask to anyone looking for the closest thing to skin perfection.

Herbivore is one of those brands that catch your eye easily. Their gorgeous and minimalist glass jars and colourful products also deliver the most nutritious and effective products on the green beauty market. I love these two masks especially. The blue any mask helps calm redness and resurface your skin for clear and smooth complexion while the pineapple and gemstone brightening mask removes any dead layers of skin leaving your best glow.

Finally, I’ve included another one of my absolute favourite product lines in green beauty that delivers the most AMAZING results. Josh Rosebrook creates products that work so magically that I wish I could send you virtual samples through the computer screen because I KNOW so many people wold convert to green beauty if they tried his products just once. I was an immediate lover of everything he created and cannot wait to see what else he has in store for the future. Here are some of my all time favourites that I’ve used in his line. The hydrating accelerator is up first.. this toning spray works its magic to add that extra boost of nutrients and hydration to your skin before you put on your moisturizers, oils and balms. (It also smells like cream soda which I adore.)

Everyone should be using SPF on their face daily and in EVERY season. This is something I am passionate about as I dont want to look in the mirror one day and regret my decision not to wear it religiously. I have had many SPF’s cause my skin to break out but this product has never caused any issues for my skin whatsoever. I have heard so many others rave about this cream and for so many reasons. I use this over top of my facial oil and before my make up primer.. I find that it creates the perfect surface for make up application as it mattify’s my facial oil beneath it leaving the most perfect level of dewy and glow to my skin. Apply this to your face, neck, chest and ears to save your skin from the sun and give it extra nutrition at the same time. This cream comes in a tinted and non tinted form (I personally use the non tinted under my foundation but would use the tinted if I was going sans make up).

Last, but certainly not least, in the Josh Rosebrook line up is the balm that I used leading up to my wedding to keep my skin perfectly glowing and smooth, the Vital Balm Cream. This product hit the shelves last Spring and it had such an amazing response that it was waitlisted. It is still sought after as the balm cream is such a high performing innovative skin product that everyone seems to love immediately. It is the most beautiful robins egg blue colour and the silky, creamy texture is something to experience. The ingredients work to calm redness, deliver intense moisture and restore the skins elasticity. It was my favourite product of the summer and one that I will be repurchasing over and over again. If you want skin with perfect texture and tone then this is exactly what I recommend.

The Body

I have always been the kinda gal who LOVES products that smell good. The thing is, many natural brands tend to overlook the scent of their product and settle for adding lavender EO. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a good dose of lavender here and there but sometimes its just too much and any girl who wants to switch from conventional beauty to green beauty will probably be turned off by the pungent singular note. So, I ALWAYS make sure I find products that I just can’t live without when it comes to their bouquet (this includes everything on this guide, they all smell SO delicious and not like you walked into a forest).

So with that, I will start with the Belle of the ball, Live Botanical. This skin care line has won a permanent place in my heart and the next two products I have repurchased over and over again. They smell unbelievable.. a gorgeous blend of benzoin (soft vanilla like scent), lime, neroli, and more create the most sophisticated, elegant and semi tropical aroma around.

The Eyes

The skin under yours eyes is your most sensitive and thin piece of skin on your entire body. It reacts strongly to poor treatment and that is why we end up with dark circles and bags. Using harsh chemicals under your eyes can aggravate these issue more so I’ve decided to link my favourite (and affordable) eye products to keep your peepers happy. The Brows & Lashes

I’ve been talking a lot about my new found love for Plume science and their extraordinary brow and lash growth serum. These puppies tend to get forgotten until its too late and your lips are chapped up mid winter. Take care of your lips, they’re part of your skin too! Everyone loves a big and soft pout so here are some of my very favourite products to achieve the perfect lip. From lip exfoliators to lip treatments, to lip tints, glosses, and lipsticks, this list is full of some of the best green beauty has to offer to dress your smile.

You’ve heard it before, if you want your make up to look flawless and stay put all day, you need a primer. I have used so many green beauty primers and quite honestly, the least expensive of them all was my favourite.. So, I’m sharing it with you here. The luminous primer by 100 percent pure is my all time favourite and could be compared to the best selling (yet toxic and expensive) conventional primer by smash box. It has an opal gleam to it which makes your skin glow beneath your makeup, and it sits in any fine lines or enlarged pores to smooth out your skin for perfect foundation application. This primer makes your skin look flawless and I find my make up does stay on much longer when I use it. Do yourself a favour and grab one of these beauties.. and dont worry about buying anything more expensive than this one, they are actually less effective in my opinion!

The Subscription

Everyone loves a good subscription box but if you ask me, my favourite in the green beauty world has to be the Beauty Heroes Box. This Box is a beauty discovery that only curses some of the most luxe green beauty brands and they really take their product choices seriously. I have yet to be disappointed in the performance of a product they send out or recommend.
