How To: An at home organic facial for glowing & healthy skin (vol. 3)

December 20, 2016

Time for another part to the series where I showcase some of my favourite green skin care products and show you how I use them to create at home facial treatments that stand up to the spas! (and are less toxic too). It is a lot cheaper and economical to purchase high quality skin care products to perform your own facial at home. Spa treatments usually come with a few steps that must be done in the correct order so you can receive the most benefits from each product. I have put together this mini article to show you what products I used this time to pamper myself and boost my skin. I also added links to the product websites for you to link to if you see something you like (not sponsored, just pure skin love shared for you!).

Step 1: Bask & Co. Detox Facial Soap Bar:

How to/Benefits:

I am an avid user of the oil cleansing method which generally includes liquid oil cleansers to remove excess dirt and oil from your skin without stripping it bare of its required oil balance. When I looked at Bask & Company’s ingredient list for this  activated charcoal detox facial soap I noticed that it was still made with coconut oil and olive oil, so I wasn’t losing that factor when switching to a solid soap bar. Then I saw the rest of the ingredients and immediately wanted to try this bar out. It is a simple list of saponified coconut oil, saponified olive oil, coconut milk, shea butter, activated charcoal and purified water.

After using this bar for a little while I have noticed that my face is clear and bright. Less breakouts have occured thanks to the detoxifying properties of the activated charcoal and my skin has not been stripped of its natural oils due to the perfectly crafted nourishing ingredients.

Step 2: Bask & Co. Black Charcoal & Coffee Gentle Face Exfoliant

Where to find:

How to/Benefits:

I am usually one to use non-manual exfoliants like lactic acid serums to exfoliate as some manual exfoliants can be too harsh on your skin. However, this scrub has been amazing for my skin and it  creates such a fresh and glowing canvas for the rest of the products to follow. The scrub is made of Activated Charcoal, French Green Clay, Coconut milk, Chia seeds, Oat Flour, Flax Seeds, Organic Coffee, Sweet almond oil, Jojoba oil, Grapeseed oil, Avocado oil and Apricot oil. It smells like a fresh cup of coffee and is garnished with the cutest little coffee bean when you open the jar. This exfoliant is packed full of nourishing as well as detoficying ingredients and so I suggest that after scrubbing, leave the exfoliant on your skin for a few minutes as a bit of a mini mask. This will allow the charcoal to detoxify by pulling impurities from beneath your skin while the caffeine content in the coffee goes to work on your fine lines and wrinkles. This exfoliant is a power house and is one of the best manual exfoliants I’ve used. The results are nothing short of luminous and glowing!

Step 3: Cacao Antioxidant Mask by Josh Rosebrook

Where to find:
Cacao Antioxidant Mask

How to/Benefits:

This mask is a blend of so many high quality raw, organic ingredients that its hard to count! I adore this mask, it has done so much good for my skin  considering the damage I have done with sun damage in the past. Many of the ingredients are high in antioxidants which combat free radicals and help your skin heal and prevent signs of premature aging. This is also one of the only masks that dont tighten and pinch my skin once it’s dried so I can leave it on for the 45 minute maximum allowed. I have found that this mask has reduced lines slightly, plumped my skin, softened and circulated blood to the surface of my skin to help restore balance and brightness. I am now onto my second jar of this magical potion and I wont be giving it up any time soon! This is luxe green beauty ladies and gentleman, and a product that I strongly suggest to everyone!

Step 4: Hydrating Accelerator by Josh Rosebrook

Where to find:
Hydrating Accelerator

How to/Benefits:

I had to make sure I featured both of my favourite Josh Rosebrook products in this post, since they really pack a punch in this skin care ritual when used in conjunction. The hydrating accelerator is a favourite among Josh Rosebrook’s customers and certainly a favourite of mine! It smells delcious, almost a cream soda or sweet candy aroma. It is made with a long list of hydrating ingredients that Josh and his team harvest and create in house. This is one thing I adore about Josh’s carefully crafted products, every single organic ingredient shows up in its rawest form where they then make their own infusions and extracts. You can be certain that every single ingredient in this brand has been carefully created, is ethical, cruelty free and the most potent you can possibly recieve! I spritz this all over my face before serum and moisturizer to really lock in the hydration and benefits from the mask. In addition to this, I keep it in my purse all day to add a little spritz when needed and to set my makeup. It really is the ultimate multi-tasker and will boost the level of moisture in your skin by tenfold!
Step 5: Fleur de Terre Facial Oil by Live Botanical

Where to find:

How to/Benefits:

The Facial Oil is a real winner in my books. I adore facial oils, they have helped tremendously in curing my acne years ago and they deliver so much glow and  suppleness that I just cant see myself living without them. Your skin needs oil and if it doesn’t feel it is getting enough, it will overproduce sebum to rectify the deficit. So instead of allowing your skin to overwork and create acne causing sebum, break it’s cycle and give it healthy doses of beneficial oils that will do the opposite. This oil contains one of my absolute favourite skin care ingredients, chia seed oil. I don’t know what it is about this oil but my skin agrees with it wholeheartedly. I can always tell when chia seed oil is blended into a product because it creates a luminous texture like no other. This facial oil is a blend of organic oils, essential oils and herbal infusions. It delivers the same cooling and anti-inflammatory effects as the toner with the addition of Calendula and Clary Sage. The smell of this oil is very herbal but so intoxicating (in the best way). It reminds me of being at a spa and sinks so quickly into my skin to create a silky finish. This oil would be ideal for anyone with rosascea, redness prone, or acne prone skin.

The Result:

The following morning I wake up with glowing and even skin tone. My usual redness was at bay and I could feel my skin was plump from the hydrating accelerator and the fleur de terre facial oil (thanks to the amazing properties of chia seed oil). This line up of products use some of the purest and high grade natural ingredients that I have come across. My skin is very happy when using these products and I highly recommend this regimen for the winter months, dry skin, and redness prone skin.

Take my advice, skip the expensive spa treatments and purchase some of these organic, cruelty free, non-gmo, all natural beauty treats! Your skin will thank you for it!
